KCRF Opening Day - Tomorrow!
I can’t wait to visit all of our favorite shops, visit our favorite pubs and see all of the new and fabulous costumes for this year! I just have to try and keep from asking to see how the Queens costume was made and inspecting her farthingale! (THAT would be inappropriate!)
If you happen to be at KCRF tomorrow and see us, huddled around a table, drinking our wine or sharing our turkey leg and discussing that fab jewelry we just saw, interrupt us and say hello. We can drone on forever! :)
KCRF circa 1986
I was rummaging through some stuff recently and came across some photos from KCRF 1986. They are good for a laugh......
Why do I look so darn happy? Well, wouldn't you be upset if you had to wear that costume too? Plus I was like 13, so I was developing my snotty teenage attitude.:)
We were human puppets. I don't know why. My mom came up with the idea. Some people liked to take advantage of it and try to move our legs out from under us. Good times.
I have more pictures from the festival of some of the great characters from that year, somewhere. They are buried at my parents house and they don't have time to search for them. When I get a chance I will go over there to get them and post them here.
Anyway, have a good chuckle and check out the KCRF circa 1986 gallery for more. Don'cha just love the hair?! :)
5 days and counting.....
Now begins the countdown to the first day of KCRF. Can't wait!
Yesterday I sewed all day on the kids venetian dresses. I thought I would share some photos of my progress so far. I still have a way to go, but they actually resemble dresses now. woo hoo! More details at my LJ http://goodgirl73.livejournal.com/. Feel free to visit. Next step. Camicias!
Progress on the Venetian
I am working to get my 1570 venetian dress done. Here is what I have so far... There are more photos of the dress in my venetian gallery. Please check them out.
you can see a detailed diary on this dress here http://goodgirl73.livejournal.com/.
I am also working on 2 dresses for the little ones. I will post an update on that shortly.
Thanks for looking and humoring me. :)
Huzzah!
After much prodding, I finally made it to this site!
So here's the deal. I enjoy dressing up. More than that, I enjoy making the outfits to dress up in, and I force my daughter to enjoy it with me! I keep a journal of such things here http://goodgirl73.livejournal.com/. Please visit!
Just like Caitlin, I too am making a 1570's Venetian dress. I am not as far along as she is, so a photo will have to wait a while. You can see the work in progress at my live journal. I am also making Venetian dresses for two little girls, a pirate outfit for a little boy, and a Halloween costume for my daughter. The "to do" list never gets shorter, does it?
I have to say, I have yet to develop a persona for the Festival. I am so bad at these types of things and I am going to try my hand at it with the Venetian garb. Any ideas are welcome, please, I need them.
So there it is. I look forward to meeting all of you here on renspace.
